Met een gevarieerd programma worden toeristen in Finland deze zomer extra verwend.
Finland is een schitterend land, vooral bekend om de duizenden meren en uitgestrekte Nationale Parken. Hiermee is het land uitermate geschikt voor buitensporten als kanoën, mountainbiken en hiken. Toch komen er vanuit Europa relatief weinig toeristen naar dit Scandinavische land, ze moeten het vooral hebben van bezoekers uit de buurlanden.
Om Finland toch meer in trek te krijgen heeft het Finse Verkeersbureau enkele opzienbarende evenementen georganiseerd voor aankomende zomer. Samen met deze toeristische trekpleisters en een betere bereikbaarheid per vliegtuig en boot hoopt het land op meer bezoekers.
Evenementen
Deze zomer lijkt Finland daar iets aan te gaan doen, gezien het overvolle evenementenprogramma dat er is samengesteld. Nog nooit waren er zo veel kunstvoorstellingen, muziekconcerten, theatervoorstellingen, kinderprogramma’s en ludieke acties, waarmee het land hoopt meer bezoekers te trekken.
Vooral de ludieke evenementen, de Wereldkampioenschappen ‘Vrouwen dragen’, ‘Sauna zitten’ en ‘Mobiele telefoons gooien’, moeten zorgen voor internationale belangstelling.
Wereldkampioenschap ‘Vrouwen dragen’
Op 7 juli 2007 wordt in het midden van Finland, in Sonkajärvi, het Wereldkampioenschap ‘Vrouwen dragen’ georganiseerd. Met een minimale gewicht van 49 kilo worden vrouwen over mannenschouders gegooid, waarna de heren vervolgens een 253,5 meter lang parcours moeten afleggen. Wereldkampioenschap ‘Sauna zitten’
Twee maanden na het Wereldkampioenschap ‘Vrouwen dragen’ wordt er in Heinola, Zuid Finland, het Wereldkampioenschap ‘Sauna zitten’ georganiseerd. Aan deze typische Finse traditie doen niet alleen Finnen mee, er zijn echter ook deelnemers uit 15 andere landen aanwezig.

Wereldkampioenschap ‘Mobiele telefoons gooien’
Savonlinna staat deze zomer in het teken van het Wereldkampioenschap ‘Mobiele telefoons gooien’. De organisatie zorgt voor officiële WK telefoons, van alle soorten afmetingen en types. In vier verschillende categorieën, Junioren, Freestyle, Traditioneel en Team Traditioneel, mag men een gooi doen naar een nieuw record. Betere bereikbaarheid
De Finse luchtvaartmaatschappij Finnair heeft onlangs besloten een derde vlucht van Amsterdam naar Helsinki uit te gaan voeren. De eerste datum van deze vluchten, uitgevoerd door de nieuwe Embraer 170, is echter uitgesteld van 26 maart naar begin juni. Volgens Christina Colliander, Finnair Sales Director in Nederland, duurt het trainen van de crew en het cabinepersoneel langer dan verwacht. Toch zal deze vlucht uiteindelijk vier keer per week overvliegen en vanaf medio augustus zelfs zes keer per week.
Ook de Finse veerbootmaatschappij Finnlines heeft gekozen voor meer overtochten. Tussen de Duitse stad Lübeck en de Finse hoofdstad Helsinki zijn nieuw ferries ingezet, die beide 500 personen kunnen vervoeren. In de zomer zullen deze ferries dagelijks overvaren, soms zelfs twee keer per dag.
Tevens hiermee hoopt Finland beter bereikbaar te worden voor toeristen, dat lijkt ze tot nu toe goed te lukken. Vergeleken met vorig jaar is er nu al een stijging zichtbaar in het aantal boekingen.
Actieve groepsreizen
Houd Finland dus goed in de gaten, gezien het feit dat dit de perfecte bestemming voor actieve en avontuurlijke groepsreizen is! Veel tour operators zullen zich hier binnenkort op gaan storten.
